Romance, Weddings, Honeymoon and Karisma Hotels
My love of Travel and Romance is legendary among my circle of friends. When the opportunity came up to visit karisma Hotels in Riviera May in Mexico, I simply could not resist. Going into the destination is an easy jaunt. JetBlue flies directly into Cancun (approximately 3 ½ hrs.) and then it is just a short trip to the ElDorado properties (about 20 – 25 minutes). I of course stayed at the fabulous El Dorado Maroma.
The Eldorado Maroma is a 72 suite beachfront Resort, located in Riviera Maya, and is just exquisite. This hotel was designed with Romance in mind. From the four poster beds to the plunge pool on the deck, indoor and outdoor showers - you will find everything to increase the senses. There are also eight one-bedroom villas and two-level villas residences: all luxurious. As a small hotel, no amenity is overlooked: and I tried most of the services.
Room service at the EL Dorado Maroma is prompt, and courteous. Breakfast (self served if you so desire) is beautifully situated with a full vista of the beach. A great way to start the day! The display of food is of the highest quality - the 'hot' station is controlled by the very helpful and wonderful Chef; and how could one forget the welcome from the staff. No need to wait for your coffee or beverage of choice - it is brought immediately to your table - and if you frequent the restaurant - your beverage of choice is remembered and is brought to you before you even have a chance to sit. All in all, it is about service. Of course this hotel prides itself on is gourmet offerings.
Your in-room mini bar is stocked, and since this is an all-inclusive, you are free to take a drink and relax in the plunge pool on your deck.
The wedding package and amenities is geared to the wishes, desires and budget of the couple. You cannot go wrong in booking this property. Everywhere is a view and the Gazebo's on the beach is perfect for weddings or just to get a massage. Of course you have the option of gardens or seaside chapel. This award winning hotel is geared for relaxation and romance. I witnessed a Mayan wedding and would encourage anyone renewing vows or getting married to incorporate this in your planning. Very emotional, very touching: and a great way to bring some of the local elements into a memorable day.
I then had to spend some time at the El Dorado Royale, A Spa Resort - This is a much larger property with 639 suites - spread over 450 acres. It is Mexico's premier adults only beach front resort, and this property is known for its gourmet cuisine and attention to detail.
With fifteen bars and lounges, nine swim up bars, (my favorite - bars with swings) live music and shows, fitness center, spa, there is something for everyone. You will want to make sure that you include a full massage on day of arrival or anytime within your stay.
There is a package to suit every budget, and the happiness quotient from staying at this property is very high. Do try the Mango tequila or the ‘Mosquito’. Daily and nightly activities include salsa lessons, kayaks, sauna, steam room and of course the waiters are only too happy to deliver drinks and snacks to those who simply want to lounge on the beach. And the nightclub is hopping!! A great hotel to get married: or simply to enjoy your honeymoon.
Next I wanted to see the Azul Beach Hotel another Karisma property as this is geared to families. The first thing that caught my eye was the 'beds' on the beach, especially the swinging bed hovering over the water. Absolutely awesome! There is an $11 million renovation still taking place on this property, but as a guest you hardly noticed.
The Sky Wedding Venue is truly a dramatic place to exchange vows. The gazebo overlooks the entire grounds and the beach formed the backdrop. At sunset, it becomes a holistic experience. Great space for any event: including vow renewals. Again, attention to detail and service, was the norm. There is a package to suit every budget, and the happiness quotient from staying at this property is very high.
Visited the Kid's Club and this is housed in its own separate building with activities to keep everyone transfixed for hours, and a quiet room for the weary. I can fully understand why this resort is a favorite for guests with families. It was interesting however, that as a family resort with children, it was relatively quiet and I noticed adults by the pool reading!
This intimate 90 suite property had all the amenities in the room to accommodate the young ones. From changing tables, cribs, monitors, bottle warmers - to even their own deluxe spa robes, nothing is overlooked. No need to pack and spend extra for the young ones.
This is a wonderful property for the couple traveling with families and planning to get married, or just to have a honeymoon. Like the other two properties, every detail is taken care of, including a special room for the bride and her attendants, the day of the wedding.
What I liked about Weddings/Honeymoon at Karisma was the streamlined effort managed by the very experienced and gracious Faith Wishnie - Director of Wedding Services.
Congratulations on your decision to select the Karisma Hotels in Riviera Maya, Mexico to get married or enjoy your honeymoon.
