Questions of Legality of a Caribbean Destination Wedding
There is no place quite like the Caribbean to enhance romance, and be romantic. The clear crystal blue waters, the hospitality of the people, the pulsating music, the myriad hotels to suit your budget and all this in Paradise. However, I do occasionally receive questions concerning the legality of getting married in the Caribbean.
QUESTION: If I get married in the Caribbean, will my marriage be legal in the United States?
ANSWER: A Resounding Yes. A legal marriage in the Caribbean is legal in the United States. Each destination requires different documentation but you can find all this information under ‘Marriage Requirements of the Caribbean’.
QUESTION: Can I bring my Minister/Rabbi/Officiant to the destination to marry me?
ANSWER: Yes you can. However you must have a registered Officiant from the destination present in order to have all the necessary papers witnessed and signed. This requires informing your wedding planner of your intention and desire.
QUESTION: I am having a small wedding and wanted to know if there are witnesses available?
ANSWER: When it comes to Hospitality, the Caribbean is tops. Finding witnesses to participate in your wedding is quite simple. Anyone would be honored to be there for you.
REMINDER: You do need to have a valid passport and for the destinations in the Caribbean that does not require (United States Virgin Islands & Puerto Rico) please bring Government Issued Identification.
