Q. What legal documents do I need to get married?

A. A Government issued photo identification issued in the country where both parties reside and evidence of the date of arrival in the Bahamas
• Proof of marital status, proof of divorce or death certificate
• If US citizen, a declaration must be sworn before a U.S Consul at the American Embassy, Nassau, Bahamas
• If citizen or resident of any other country, a declaration must be sworn before a Notary Public or other authorized to administer oaths in that country and must accompany the application for the marriage license
