TripAdvisor's 25 Best Hotels in the Caribbean
There are many independent hotels throughout the Caribbean, and it becomes quite difficult at times to name only a few or to recommend the best.
When they are good, they are very good - and when they are bad... goodness me... you cannot wait to get out.
You have independent hotels owned by the locals - or by corporations. What you choose or like maybe dependent on experiences with certain brands - or you may just want to experience local ownership, how they differentiate themselves and what they have to offer. Whatever you do, make sure a Travel Agent is front, right and center in your decisions.
Take for instance Casa de Campo/La Romana - fabulous hotel, a golfers dream, wonderful rooms and great food. You are assigned your own golf cart to wander the property. www.casadecampo.com.do/gatherings/weddings
The Aruba Marriott www.ArubaMarriott.com is another wonderful hotel, excellent staff and an all around favorite. When you have a hotel and staff that is there 20+ years later... you know they are doing something right. Attention to detail, manicured grounds and a great place for honeymoon, weddings or just a romantic jaunt.
The Aruba Surf Club is another Marriott hotel with luxury honeymoon suites and spacious 1 to 3 bedroom villas, perfect for wedding guests. The resort is surrounded by tropical gardens and features lagoon-like swimming pools and on-site bars and restaurants. It’s truly the perfect choice for romance, and by booking a timeshare rental from a by-owner website called ArubaSurfClubResort www.ArubaSurfClubResort.com you and your guests can save 60-70% off Marriott pricing.
Trip Advisor 25 All-Inclusive Resort - Caribbean
In the world of All-Inclusive Resorts you have to be extremely careful of what you are getting when you commit financially.
NOT EVERY 'ALL-INCLUSIVE' IS THE SAME.
Work with a trusted Travel Agent to match your desires and personality with the destination and hotel offerings. And in the cases of All-Inclusive, 'buyer beware'.
Although, you do have some fabulous All-Inclusive that do it right. The food is excellent, the rooms lovely and the staff almost feel like family. I have stayed at a few and have enjoyed every moment. I have also had the pleasure of staying at a miserable one or two... that I could not wait to leave. My motto is always the same: "You get what you pay for and if it sounds too good to be true... go with your instinct".
So, below you will find Trip Advisor's List. I have stayed at a few on this list, and the experience was wonderful. But at the risk of repeating myself, unless you have first hand experience with the property, work with a Travel Agent.
I know a few excellent ones that did not make this list - Maroma Resort, El Dorado Spa Resorts & Hotels which is part of the Karisma Hotels & Resorts www.KarismaHotels.com. The Maroma has its own private plunge pool off the bedroom on the second level (slice of heaven: you can have breakfast while dangling your feet in the water)..great beach, large pools elsewhere on the property and of course beautiful rooms. Loved every moment I stayed there.
The same goes for Le Blanc Spa Resort www.LeblancSpaResort.com. The service is beyond expectations, and the food just fantastic. Great place to stay.
I really like the Iberostar Grand www.Iberostar.com. The service is superior, rooms are wonderfully designed and of course the Grand comes with a butler. What more can you ask for. The diversity and presentation of meals is excellent. Again a wonderful All-Inclusive.
I had the pleasure also of staying at Sandals Royal Plantation in Ocho Rios, Jamaica and the experience was wonderful. What I loved and appreciated was the attention to detail. Excellent service and an overall good experience www.sandals.com.
My daughter's favorite was the Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Village and Spa - Providenciales, Turks & Caicos. For a family there is so much to see & do for the children and you the adult can finally go off and have some peace in the 'adult section'. If you know Turks & Caicos you will know that the Beach is fabulous www.beaches.com/destinations/turks-and-caicos.
